Field Trip

After all the hustle and bustle of Friday and Saturday, you would think I'd be doing nothing more than resting today. Wrong! Hubby and I did sleep in--I'll grant you that! Make no mistake, I was not getting up early after a wild weekend, that's for sure! Hubby and I got up after 10:00. Then, Hubby mentioned he wanted to go pick up an aluminum break. He has been wanting one of these for awhile. He wants to do side work for people that involves things like home improvements and remodeling. An aluminum break is a tool used for aluminum or vinyl siding. He borrowed one from his employer when he redid all the siding on our house. He sees the aluminum break as an investment. He could potentially do some business with this and make some extra cash. I have no objection!
So, he wanted to go buy this break...in Detroit, MI! Another road trip! I swear, I've spent way too much time in the car this weekend! I said I'd go. I figure it would be a photo opp. We headed on our merry way and things were going smoothly until we encountered I-75 N toward Detroit. A large portion of it is closed off. There are detours which are nightmarish for those of us not from Michigan. It took us awhile, but eventually, we found our way to our destination. We picked up the break--the dude selling it was kind of a hardass. Hubby was leaning by the guy's car and he was like, "get off my car!" OK, dude, lay off the juice, would ya? Aside from that, he seemed like a nice guy, but at the same time, we could tell he was a total jock meathead type. Boooo!!!
We made our way back to familiar territory (I-75 S) which took awhile. There were detours for I-75 S now. It was going to take us to I-275 S and lord only knows where that was. We gave up and went back to Rte 94. That was the way we came up when we lost I-75 N. That was so much quicker than the STOOpid detour! We drove through an area called Taylor, MI. That was a quaint little place. It's ashame, though. Gas prices in Michigan are a lot higher than they are in Ohio! Yucky!
Once we were back in familiar surroundings, we found a place to eat (Burger King). We had been starving for awhile. Then we headed home. Another misadventure come and gone. The aluminum break is in excellent shape and Hubby got a great price. He is pleased with his purchase. I'm happy that it was worth the road trip!
