Sad Day

Tonight I learned that my uncle has lost his short battle with cancer. He was diagnosed maybe a month ago. He had a spot on his lung. As they ran more tests it was discovered he also had cancer of the liver. As the days and weeks passed, the cancer was spreading throughout his body. It was in his stomach and hip. He was having good days and bad days and was deciding whether to undergo chemo. I think he was trying to get stronger so that he could do the chemo. He wanted to fight.
Hubby and I were planning to either go visit him at the hospital either today or tomorrow. My dad called me and said he had not been conscious most of the day and things had taken a bad turn during the night. We decided to wait and visit tomorrow. My cousin was already planning to visit tomorrow as well. As it turned out, our plans have changed. He passed away at 7:30. My parents told me and Hubby to hold off on our trip as it would be confusing and chaotic as funeral arrangements are being made. I had considered just going to see my mom's family for Mother's Day, but it still seemed awkward. I will instead mail my Mother's Day cards and head back once funeral arrangements have been finalized.
