Last night I was struck with the worst allergy attack I've ever experienced. It was utter craziness. At approximately 7:30 p.m. EDT a pleasant breeze flowed through my home office window and as the air brushed across my face, I felt instant irritation! My right eye almost immediately felt like it had something in it. Shortly following the initial irritation came the profuse watering. Next came blurred vision and sinus problems.
On top of this misery, my dog wouldn't stop barking. Hubby was outside talking to the neighbor and I flailing around the house like a crazy person! I decided to take a shower to flush my eyes under the stream of water. It helped a little, but I had to keep a warm compress closeby for awhile. Finally, I broke down and took a Claritin-D. I was trying to avoid it because I had already taken an Excedrin Migraine after work. I was really hoping the Claritin would take care of the watery itchy eyes. No such luck. It cleared up my congestion, but my eyes were still irritated and my right eye was practically swollen shut!
Finally, around 9:30, Hubby came back inside. He wanted to know what happened to me! I said something blew in the window and irritated my eyey. He had a similar problem the day before, but attributed it to the handles on his motorcycle. He probably caught something in the air, too. The neighbor he had been talking to had just mowed his lawn. Perhaps I have developed a strong allergy to freshly cut grass.
We went to bed around 10:30 or 11:00. Around midnight I was still wide awake. Partially due to the Claritin making me jittery and partly because my eye still hurt. It was stinging! I decided to get up because I was just going to be tossing and turning anyway and Hubby was already asleep. No need to wake him.
Two hours and a box of tissues later, I decided to attempt sleep. I was feeling a little better. I could at least breathe. My eye was still watery, but not painful. I went to bed around 2:00 and woke up at 5:00...and 5:30...and now here I am suffering through the day job.

I can't even go outside when Jedd is mowing the yard.
My doctor said Benedryl will help that. Colby had the same thing happen in both eyes. He had breathing issues with it. I still have to take him to the allergist.
I hope you feel better.
