Dancing Dead

Today was exhausting. I had my doctor appointment, got diagnosed with anxiety, went to work, had to park across the street because all the garages were full and at the end of the day I had dance class! Whew! I wasn't sure I would make it through dance class. I felt really tired and at one point I really thought I could fall asleep lying on the floor stretching! Surprisingly, I was able to keep up the pace and remember the steps. Modern dance is becoming more natural to me. When I was Ms. Balletic, modern just seemed foreign and awkward. I was off balance and really out of my element. Now for some reason, I can go with the flow more easily. I'm not sure why.
Tonight we did some movement that changed circular direction abruptly. Where one would expect to continue in a clockwise motion, the choreography required sudden rotation in a counter clockwise direction. In the past, this would have frustrated the hell out of me. Tonight (and at past classes this term), it didn't phase me. I just went with it and had fun. I'm liking modern dance more and more. I miss ballet, but then I don't. By the end of class I felt quite stress free and relaxed. No yoga tonight, but we'll see if I get up early enough in the morning.
