Before going to bed last night, Hubby and I made the mistake of eating burgers for dinner. It was so cold all day yesterday that I was not going anywhere! The temperature started at 10 degrees and dropped down to 4 degrees! Yuck! I got some housework done. I was concerned about dinner, though. We don't have much in the way of groceries. Hubby said don't go anywhere. Fine. :) I didn't! We improvised and Hubby made burgers when he got home from work at 8:00. So, we were eating a rather late supper.
Shortly after eating, I just felt sick. Red meat isn't a good thing for me to eat because I have IBS. I think I am going to switch to ground turkey instead of ground beef. Not sure how Hubby will like that adjustment, but I am sick of feeling icky whenever I eat spaghetti or burgers. I need to makeover my diet and I think that cutting out all red meat is a great starting point.
We went to bed around 11:00. I felt sick to my stomach so I couldn't sleep. When I finally did fall asleep (probably around midnight) I had disturbing nightmares. I think I've been watching too much Forensic Files. Needless to say, I did not have a restful sleep last night.
Here is some good news: I got about 7 1/2 hours of sleep last night! Woo hoo! I felt good when I woke up. Here's the downside: I overslept the alarm by 2 hours!!! Oh NO! It was set for 5:30 a.m. I probably turned it off in my sleep. Sometimes I do that--even though I have to get out of bed and walk across the bedroom to turn it off. I must've been really exhausted. Hubby said, "What time are you getting up? Don't you have to be at work?" I really thought the alarm hadn't gone off yet--I should have known it wasn't 5:30. It was light outside. It's still dark at 5:30!
I peeled myself out of bed and saw that it was 7:30! There was no way I'd get to work by 8:00. I called my boss and got his voicemail. I thought that was odd. He's usually there early. I tried his assistant and couldn't reach her either. Hubby said maybe it's closed. Our institution almost never closes. I'm surprised we closed last year when we had the blizzard. The website said we are open. I decided to log on to MSN Messenger to see if anyone there could tell me who was there. By this time it was well after 8:00. NO ONE from my department was logged on! I called the campus operator. She was extremely rude in telling me it's open today; but rudeness is about all you can expect in Cleveland, OH. So, I was on the road by 8:30.
Hubby was kind enough to warm my car up for me. Yay! Once I was on my way, I discovered my windshield wipers were frozen to the car! I had to get to a gas station to fix that problem. Once again, I was on my way. I wasn't on the road long before I hit a huge traffic slow down. This was the first of several. There were cars of the roads left and right. At one point I saw a stalled tractor trailer. My commute lasted about 90 minutes. I live 30 miles away from my job. My usual time is 30-40 minutes. There were many times I just wanted to turn around and go home.
Hubby has today off (regular day off). He said I should have called off anyway. Boy, do I agree!
When I arrived here at work, I discovered that the phones were down anyway. They had to fix the problem. Now it's been fixed and lucky for me, it's been rather slow. I have a dance class tonight. I really want to go, but my neck is killing me. I slept all wrong on it this weekend. It hurt yesterday and it's worse today. I can barely turn my head. It sucks. Today will hopefully improve soon. I hope the commute home isn't as awful as the morning commute.
I'm done with today's bitch. :)

If you do switch to ground turkey, don't tell him. We can also by ground pork, so there's another option.
Thanks! Do you think he'll know the difference? I'm not supposed to eat pork either so ground turkey is probably my best option. My tummy can't handle pork or red meat. How sad!
