I Did It!

I finally got my "Posh bob!" I braved wind and snow to get to my appointment. All day I was worried that I would miss my 6:30 appoitnment. The snow began to fall around 10:00 a.m. and never stopped. At 3:00 I heard stories of people being stuck in the parking garage. Traffic was so backed up, that people couldn't get out of the garage in a timely manner. I decided to ask permission to leave at 4:30. I figured I could make it with 2 hours to allow for the roads and weather. I was hoping it wouldn't take the full 2 hours, but you never know. For some reason, people around here go into shock when it snows. You'd think we were in Florida or Texas where they would be completely taken aback by any snow; but no, this is Ohio. It snows here every year; and yet, by the gridlock, you'd think this was Tennessee where snow is a rarity.
I left at 4:30. I could see people on the top level of the parking garage were waiting in a long line to get down to the lower levels and to the street. Fortunately, I do not park on that level. I was parked on the second level. There was traffic lined up in the center aisle of this garage level. Lucky me again, I had pulled my car through to the next aisle so I would be facing outward and could just pull forward to get out. No worries about backing up and having to wait for someone to allow me to do so! Since there was a long line waiting to get out to the street exit on that level, I took my chances and went the wrong way to get to the ramp to the lowest level. Luckily, no one else was coming and I got out of the garage successfully in a few minutes!
Once on the streets of Cleveland, it was a different story. Traffic was at a crawl and I needed to get into the middle lane of traffic to align myself with the on ramp to the highway. How nice that someone actually had a soul and let me over! From there, I inched my way to the intersection. I think it took me about 20 minutes to get from the garage to the highway on ramp. Once on the ramp, traffic was still slow. I-77 was slow, but it is always slow. The slowness of I-77 was not out of the ordinary.
Gradually I made my way to I-490. Once I got onto I-490, things became more smoothe. We were cruisin' now! The average speed was about 25 mph! Woo hoo! It was now 5:00 and at this rate, I could easily make my appointent by 6:30. Once I got to I-90, there were a few stop ups here and there. Fortunately, nothing major that shut everything down. I made it to my appointment with 5 minutes to spare! Total drive time: 1 hr; 50 min.
As I walked into the salon I was offered a "beverage." I just wanted water. I hadn't had anything to drink in quite awhile. My hairdresser greeted me and asked what I wanted to do today. It had been over a year since my last haircut. I told her I was going to be dramatic tonight. She got a gleam in her eye. I showed her the picture of the hairdo and she was excited. I think hairdressers love it when people come in and do drastic things with their hair; like getting over a foot of hair chopped off and then dying it blonde. Yea, I think that's a rush for hairdressers!
She led me to the workstation and we were discussing the highlights. Another hairdresser was sitting at her station waiting for her next appointment. My hairdresser then said, "well, let's just get started!" And with that, she took out the shears and sliced through my hair! About a foot of hair fell to the floor! The hairdresser sitting next to me looked shocked and said, "wow! I didn't know that was gonna happen! I heard the discussion of highlights, but wow!" It was cute.
About 2 1/2 hours later, my hair was lighter, blonder, shorter, and totally cute (if I do say so myself)! "You look like a whole new person!" my hairdresser exclaimed. It was quite a transformation.
She showed me how to keep it looking fresh and suggested some products (actually, I asked about them; I needed no suggestion). There were two that she used that she recommended. I bought just one for now because salon products are never a bargain. ;) The product I bought was Aquage transformation paste. Until this week, I had never heard of Aquage. A friend of mine sells it in her online store and that was the first I'd seen it. Then I went to my appointment and lo and behold, it's all over the salon! Ha! So I now own some Aquage.
After the appointment I went to show Mom & Dad. It was about 9:00 so I just stopped for a minute. They got all excited and took pictures. Next it was home to show Hubby...
I thought Hubby was in bed. I had called him after the appointment and he said, "Sleeping!" So I didn't want to disturb him. It was 10:00 by the time I got home. I pulled my car into the garage and came in and was greated by the dog. Then Hubby appeared and he was amazed! He loves it! It is a lot blonder than either of us expected it to be. I only got highlights, after all. Hubby has been caling me "Punky" all night now. Like Punky Brewster I guess.
What a feeling a new hairdo can give a person! It can be very refreshing. I certainly feel rejuvenated! A new haircut can totally bring a sense of zen. :)
