Things you don't expect when you're trying to budget:
The store doesn't have the discount brand you're used to; so you wind up paying more for a name brand that is essentially the same thing.
The price of chicken has skyrocketed because they eat corn and the cost of corn has skyrocketed because farmers really think this ethanol thing is going to take off.
Your plans are foiled because some of the veggies just look nasty, and are therefore, not fit to be bought.
Not much of what you need is on sale this week.
Even the stuff that is on sale isn't very thrifty.
You want to buy just 2 4-packs of toilet paper, but all they have is the 9-roll. I guess I won't have to buy more any time soon. :P
Hubby will want potato chips and hot dogs. They weren't on the original list.
I could go on. I spent more than I wanted to, but I didn't spend more than I usually do. *sigh*
