I am so sick of the snow! We had one little "teaser" day on Monday and it reached 63º. The very next day the highest temperature was 23º! Ya just gotta love Cleveland; where you can experience all 4 seasons in the course of a few days. Now it appears we are amidst another blizzard. The snow is very fine and small flakes, but boy, does that accumulate quickly! It began to snow at 11:00 a.m. yesterday. At 2:30 p.m. we were told the university was closing at 3:00 due to the snow. Hell must have truly frozen over because our institution NEVER closes. In the 10 years I've been working there it has now closed 4 times due to snow.
The bad snow started February 12. I had my hair appointment and I wasn't missing it for the world! I left work at 4:30 to make sure I would make my 6:30 appointment. It's a good thing I left early. I got to the salon at 6:25! A 30 mile drive on a major highway took 2 hours! The next big snow was February 26. I just didn't even bother going to work that day. First of all, I didn't want to deal with yet another snowy commute. Secondly, the Debate at Cleveland State was that night and I didn't really want to deal with that traffic on top of the snow. If I had actually won the ticket lottery and would have been able to attend, it would have been a different story. Instead I stayed home that day and watched the debate on TV. Hillary Clinton made a complete ass of herself and Barack Obama appeared calm, intelligent, and articulate; yet, somehow Hillary still won Ohio. What load of crap!
Now we come to this week. We got an ice storm March 4. It took me about 90 minutes to get home. The roads were slick. The storm was nasty! The ice was pelting the windows and the wind was violent. It kept on all night and was still snowing when Hubby and I woke up. Hubby took one look outside and said to me, "You're not going anywhere." :) I called off and said I would attempt to come in the afternoon once roads were plowed. The snow stopped around 10:00 a.m. and the plows came. At about 12:30 I decided to go to work. Hubby was nice enough to have already cleared the snow and ice from my car. He had warmed it up earlier that morning. He had managed to go somewhere to pick up some motorcycle parts. I got into my car, put it in reverse, and went absolutely nowhere! My tires were spinning. I asked Hubby for help. He got the car to the end of the driveway, but the car was sliding all over the place. At one point I thought he was going to hit his own car with mine! I could smell the rubber burning against the icy driveway. Finally, I said just to stop and I would just stay home the entire day. I called work and they said they weren't really expecting me anyway. Woo hoo!
Thursday, I made it to work. No real issues. There was a huge water main break in downtown Cleveland which was causing traffic issues. I was sitting in stopped traffic for nearly 30 minutes due to a 4 car accident. The commute never used to bother me, but I'm getting to be an ornery old broad and I am just tired of incompetent drivers. I do see some interesting sights sometimes. Thursday I really wish I had had my camera with me. The ice on the trees was glistening and looked so gorgeous. I was stopped long enough that I could have gotten some great pictures. I even could have gotten a shot of the accident scene. It wasn't graphic, just some smashed up cars.
Thursday was a relatively normal day. I went to aerobics after work and it felt good to be moving around. It exhausted me. This brings us to Friday. Ah...Friday. My commute into work on Friday could have been a record time. I think it took me about 25 minutes! Traffic was light and there were no accidents and now drama. I got to the office at about 7:15. This is early. We had an 8:15 meeting. Work went smoothly and then we got the call at 2:30; which brings us to now. It has been snowing pretty much nonstop since 11:00 a.m. yesterday. You can't see very far through the snow. I am supposed to have lunch with a friend at 11:00 and I'm wondering if she still plans to go. She never calls which annoys the hell out of me. She doesn't even return calls so I'm not going to bother calling her. It's not like she'll answer the phone. So, I suppose in a few minutes I will get in the shower and get ready for the day. Hubby is already at work. I wonder if I can even get my car out of the driveway! How I wish the snow would just melt already!

Bwahahahhahahah....errr I mean, I'm sorry your weather looksl like mine. At least I don't feel so alone. tee hee
I'm just so sick of snow! I texted my friend to see if she still wanted to do lunch or what. She replied saying she couldn't get out of her driveway. I wonder when she was planning on telling me. I'm happy to hear you're not feeling alone. ;) I'm not either; I just hate it when people don't communicate and expect their minds to be read.
